24 marca w Narodowy Dzień Pamięci Polaków ratujących Żydów pod okupacją niemiecką, Gmina Brańszczyk uczciła pamięć o Polakach, którzy podczas niemieckiej okupacji nieśli pomoc Żydom w miejscowości Poręba Kocęby.
Pod tablicą upamiętniającą naszych lokalnych bohaterów Antoniego Prusińskiego i Piotra Leszczyńskiego zostały złożone kwiaty i zapalone znicze. W uroczystości wzięli udział Rodzina upamiętnionych, Wójt Gminy Brańszczyk wraz z przedstawicielami samorządu, Dyrektor Centrum Kultury, Sportu i Turystyki wraz z pracownikami oraz poczet sztandarowy Szkoły Podstawowej w Porębie. Uczestnicy dzisiejszej uroczystości odwiedzili także miejsce upamiętniające zamordowanego Żyda, któremu Antoni Prusiński i Piotr Leszczyński udzielili pomocy.
Projekt „Zawołani po imieniu”, realizowany przez Instytut Pileckiego przywrócił pamięć o bohaterskiej postawie Polaków z naszej społeczności lokalnej, którzy świadomie ryzykowali życie własne i swoich najbliższych, aby nieść pomoc żydowskim przyjaciołom, sąsiadom, a czasem nieznajomym, którzy zapłacili za to najwyższą cenę.
Piotr Leszczyński (ok. 1891–1943)
Upamiętniony 9 czerwca 2019 roku w miejscowości Poręba-Kocęby.
Mieszkał razem z żoną Aleksandrą i pięciorgiem dzieci w Porębie-Kocębach w powiecie ostrowskim. Rodzina wiodła skromne życie, utrzymując się z pracy na roli. W czasie okupacji niemieckiej Piotr pomagał sąsiadowi Antoniemu Prusińskiemu ukrywać młodego żydowskiego mężczyznę, który przebywał w leśnym bunkrze nieopodal zabudowań obu gospodarzy. Zadaniem Leszczyńskiego było przede wszystkim dostarczanie jedzenia do kryjówki, w czym pomagał mu też syn Eugeniusz. 15 maja 1943 roku o 4.00 nad ranem w miejscowości pojawiły się oddziały żandarmerii z Ostrowi Mazowieckiej wraz z żołnierzami Wehrmachtu, co zapowiadało obławę oraz przeszukania. Szukali między innymi podejrzanego o działalność w partyzantce Eugeniusza, gdy go jednak nie zastali, aresztowali jego ojca Piotra razem z sąsiadem Prusińskim (który był czynnym partyzantem). Niemcy przywiązali ich do drzewa, przesłuchiwali i bili do nieprzytomności. Obu mężczyzn zastrzelono. Zginął również ukrywany Żyd.
Antoni Prusiński (ok. 1910–1943)
Mieszkał razem z żoną Józefą, synem Zdzisławem i córką Jadwigą w Porębie-Kocębach, w powiecie ostrowskim. Utrzymywał się z pracy na gospodarstwie, choć ważną częścią jego życia była również muzyka. Jako utalentowany harmonista często grywał na miejscowych zabawach. W okresie niemieckiej okupacji był zaangażowany w działania partyzanckie; często ukrywał się w przygotowanych przez siebie schronach. Mimo tych trudności razem z sąsiadem Piotrem Leszczyńskim zdecydował się pomóc młodemu żydowskiemu mężczyźnie, którego ukrył w jednym z leśnych bunkrów. Zimą ich podopieczny sypiał i żywił się w domu Prusińskich. 15 maja 1943 r. niemieccy żołnierze zorganizowali obławę i wtargnęli na teren gospodarstwa Antoniego: dotkliwie pobili jego żonę oraz podpalili dom. Prusiński razem z sąsiadem Leszczyńskim został przywiązany do drzewa i pobity do nieprzytomności, a następnie rozstrzelany.
